kvetshing

I received the following email from my superior at work today. In light of the fact that he's taken me off of projects, doesn't invite me to meetings, ignores my emails and has yet to give me a reasonable assignment in the past three months... i'm pretty fucking annoyed to say the least!

To: ME

From: MY BOSS

Subject: Personal Stuff

Luv, please don’t do too much of your personal stuff so clearly out in the open while we are all running on all cylinders. You have been on the phone with friends all morning.

I am certain that there is WHTI stuff to do ie: Hotel outreach or even more importantly establishing an outline for the Final Report and presentation we have spoken of. I don’t need to know about some Food Critic friend or writing styles – PLEASE.

xoxo

Enjoy Your Flight!

Our dear friend Trevor Young opened his show "Non-Places" last weekend at Flashpoint Gallery in DC.

Asma, Jade, Phillipa and I had the honor to serve as Captain Young's Flight Attendants.

Need I say more?

LOST

Last week Alicia Kersting presented in her first solo show called "Lost"!

She captured the images and emotions of 12 people in her life. Each of the subjects was asked to write about their experience. Below are the two paintings I sat for followed by the poem I wrote inspired by Alicia, the conversation we had during the sitting, and my thoughts on the process.

In the beginning, shadow;
reflecting bright light
Palette mixing color

Capturing a fleeting moment
Stolen moments
Posing

Exposing
Brush strokes
Ink wet stained

Going beyond the superficial
my likeness
my emotion

Drying desiccate, catching a breath

Fleeting beauty... LOST

Prudence Plays Dress Up!!

Mee-oww!

I'm not the only one in the family that likes to rummage through fun clothes! Here's my little Prudence ensconced in a pretty peach petticoat! Sometimes in the middle of the night, I can hear her playing in it!

So Cute!!

Scary But True!

Each night this week I have come home sneezing uncontrollably and going through boxes of Kleenex. It's so bad that I haven't been able to go out.

The culprit - ALLERGIES

Since I already take a heavy dose of meds in the am, I am considering alternative solutions.

NO I AM NOT GOING TO ROB YOU OR GANG-BANG - BUT HOPEFULLY I'LL BREATHE BETTER!!!

Frighteningly Good

Okay, so we all know that the whole jumpsuit obsession was acquired BEFORE every hip store in G-town and beyond began carrying them this Spring. Today, not once, not twice, but on three separate occasions in various aspects of my life - I developed an affinity for something that is on the verge of becoming very popular!

1) Nasal Irrigation - I have had the pleasure of douching my sinuses for years now, thanks to the abundance of allergies and asthma. I have bought numerous Sinus Rinse kits for friends and family (http://www.neilmed.com/usa/products.php).

For the past two days, an article proving the benefits of nasal irrigation is featured in The New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/14/health/14real.html?em.

2) Art - You may or may not know that I bought my first real piece of art last year; it is a study by Heidi Taillefer of a painting called The Most Proximate Cause. It is an interpretation of the story of Damocles; an insight into the necessity for empathy and realization that with great success - there is often great risk. The future of which can rest in the strength of a single horse hair. Reminding us that the immense weight of power and fortune can quickly vanish.

Today, out of the millions of artists and thousands that are worthy of recognition, Ms. Heidi Traillefer was igoogle.com's artist of the day! A sure sign that her popularity is rising.

3) New Amsterdam Bicycle - You may or may not know that my new mode de transport is my purple Schwinn my mom bought me in middle school. The one regret I have is that I didn't start riding sooner. I find peace to and from work, am reducing my carbon footprint, and (hopefully) reducing my rear end. I frequent the bike shop next to my office and have been eying and admiring a beautiful bike. I never imagined I would marvel such a thing or consider purchasing such an expensive bike... but I fell in love. So much so, that just this week I emailed my loved ones a picture of my object of affection.

Only to discover that the New York Times did it again. This week in the Fashion and Style section, no less, there is an article featuring my beautiful, black bike and the nascent chicness of riding in an article called "Riding the IT Factor"!!! http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/16/fashion/16CODES.html?em

it seems I'm always on to something big!!
